EarthGang @ Milkboy Art House [DC] - 10/17/19

EarthGang, comprised of Olu (aka Johnny Venus) and WowGr8 (aka Doctur Dot), hail from the current mecca of hip-hop: Atlanta. The Outkast comparisons often arise, with each group embracing eclectic fashion and music styles. Having released a string of albums and EPs since 2010 and finally releasing their debut album Mirrorland as new signees to Dreamville, they’ve been on a mission to not just make a name for themselves, but to connect the dots of Atlanta’s past, present, and future sound.

EarthGang not only filled Milkboy Arthouse with devoted fans but also with an unlimited amount of passion for their set just under an hour and a half.  The endless energy from Olu and WowGr8 was reciprocated by the sold-out crowd with the front barricade almost falling victim multiple times during their performance. Songs like “Proud of U” and “Top Down” brought the house down, with each song featuring carefree melodies that break out into piercing rap flows. EarthGang didn’t waste a chance while in the DMV to take shots at the current president, cleverly incorporating the infamous “FDT” chorus by YG and the late great Nipsey Hussle into their 2015 psychedelic-trap inspired cut “Missed Calls.”

Benji and DUCKWRTH are supporting the Mirrorland tour. Check out visuals from each of their performances below.
