Kim Petras @ Fillmore Silver Spring [DC] - 11/20/2019
Just before Thanksgiving, German pop star Kim Petras returned to the Fillmore Silver Spring on her second US tour of the year. Joined onstage by her DJ and songwriting partner, Aaron Joseph, Kim opened the night with “Clarity,” the title track of her most recent album and proceeded to deliver a massive twenty-three song set that featured material from her entire discography, and no less than FOUR outfit/hair changes.

The middle chunk of the show was dedicated to the spooky songs on Turn Off The Light, and after an interlude of “Purgatory,” she emerged on top of a spinning platform in a metallic bodysuit and medieval face mask to perform “There Will Be Blood.” “Halloween is over, but I don’t fucking care,” she exclaimed before performing “Massacre.” and then leaving the stage during an interlude of “<demons>” for yet another outfit change.
Other highlights include an acoustic cover of “Human” by The Killers and a mashup of her features on Charli XCX’s songs “Click” and “Unlock It.” Kim ended the night with encores of “Heart to Break” and “Sweet Spot.”
