When it comes to DC, the third time’s the charm for British group HÆLOS. They had to cancel their U Street Music Hall appearance in 2016 twice, leaving fans in the area waiting in anticipation until now. With their sophomore album Any Random Kindness on the horizon, the experimental electronic/pop outfit kicked off their US tour at SXSW and closed it in DC. With larger-than-life renditions of new track “Buried in the Sand” and older favorites like “Pray,” HÆLOS left nothing to the imagination, and they even invited a few fans to dance with them on stage as they closed out the last show of their tour.

Any Random Kindness will release on May 10 through Infectious Music.

Opening for HÆLOS was Montreal-based musician MUNYA, who recalled the story of how she and the band met at SXSW in March. It was because of that fateful encounter that she was asked to open for the group in DC. Though she was just one person with a keyboard and guitar on stage, she packed a lot of fun melodies sung in both English and French, like the laid-back “Benjamin” and “Hotel Delmano.” MUNYA’s latest single “Blue Pine” is out now on Luminelle Recordings, with a new EP soon on the way.
