Amyl and the Sniffers @ Songbyrd - 10/13/2018
A mix between Sid Vicious, Cherie Currie and Angie Pepper took over Songbyrd on Saturday night. Australia’s, Amyl and the Sniffers delivered a perfectly 70’s-era punk rock show, where vocalist Amy Taylor’s audacious moves paired with the the ferocity of bandmates Bryce Wilson (drums), Dec Martens (guitar) and Gus Romer (bass) were the perfect match for people looking to pogo relentlessly and rock out to songs loaded with energy and attitude. Songs like the catchy “I’m Not a Loser”, the vigorous “Cup of Destiny” and recent release “Some Mutts” were authentically ferocious and badass in a way that not many bands can pull off on stage.
Amyl and the Sniffers’ latest single “Some Muffs (Can’t Be Muzzled)” is out now through Flightless Records/ATO Records.
The Brooklyn-based Surfbort opened for Amyl and the Sniffers and were actually joined by Taylor for one song. Their latest release is the single “Slushy” through Cult Records. Maryland-based Sivle kicked the night off with an passionate and rousing rock and roll performance.
