Luck and Strange
David Gilmour

Fans looking for guitar heroics and classic Floydian atmospherics will be delighted to find both in full effect on Luck and Strange, David Gilmour’s first solo album in nine years. Dig a little deeper, and you can begin to understand why the 78-year-old guitar legend calls this his best work since 1972’s Dark Side of the Moon. Deeply personal, thanks to the lyrics of his wife Polly Samson, and boundary-pushing, thanks to producer Charlie Andrew, Luck and Strange is the sound of an “old” man reckoning with the end. Rather than shy away from that grim reality, Gilmour revels in it, often pushing his voice to its limits while creating entirely new universes with his guitar work. The album is at its best, though, when he brings it back down to earth for tracks like “Between Two Points” and the bonus track “Yes, I Have Ghosts,” both duets with his daughter Romany Gilmour. A collaboration born out of the pandemic, the “Von Trapped Family” reveals the tender heart that’s been beating underneath the entirety of Gilmour’s career, making the music he created, which is now woven into the fabric of people’s lives all over the world, that much sweeter. - Kevin

Alligator Bites Never Heal
Doechii

It's been an eventful few years for Jaylah Ji'mya Hickmon aka Doechii, and we're luckier for it. On Alligator Bites Never Heal, Doechii marks the next stage in her career - and her first release for TDE - by meticulously and hilariously chronicling the journey here. You'll blush, you'll laugh, and you'll groove. By the time you make it to the final track - the album's title track - you'll find yourself nodding along in deep understanding that wherever she's going next, it'll be her path. - Eduardo
