Snail Mail @ Fillmore Silver Spring [DC] - 9/9/2022
Since launching into a successful music career at the age of 18, the now 23-year-old Lindsey Jordan has matured immensely in her sound and songwriting since her 2016 Habit EP. Her latest record, Valentine, takes the listener on a vulnerable journey through heartbreak. Snail Mail brought the last night of the Valentine Tour to the Fillmore Silver Spring, just a quick trip down the highway from her hometown of Ellicott City, Maryland. The show had been rescheduled from last year because she had to get vocal cord surgery, but Lindsey is back in full force and performing stronger than ever. She opened with “Heatwave” before greeting the crowd and expressing appreciation for being back in Maryland playing to a room full of friends, family, and teachers.
The setlist featured selects across all of her projects and she transitioned seamlessly between stripped back ballads and her guitar driven indie rock hits. Highlights include Lindsey joking about being willing to sacrifice a band member for a good Pitchfork review, a cover of “Tonight, Tonight,” by Smashing Pumpkins, and the finale of the show when her openers joined the band on stage to chaotically jam out to “Pristine.” Snail Mail and JPEGMAFIA will be joining Turnstile as openers on their upcoming tour this October.
Opening for Snail Mail on the Valentine tour were Indie Rock bands Momma and Hotline TNT. All 3 bands cheered each other on from side stage during each of their sets. Momma’s latest album, Household Name, and Hotline TNT’s latest EP, When You Find Out, are out now.
