Colombian artist/reggaeton superstar J Balvin brought his Arcoiris Tour to EagleBank Arena in Fairfax, VA in support of his two latest albums Vibras (2018) and Oasis (2018). On a stage that was almost cartoonish — vibrant colors, animated clouds, DANCING MUSHROOMS, a rainbow stairway to...somewhere, and even giant dancing dolls — costumed dancers thrashed about to the backing tracks provided by DJ Pope.
The show opened with Balvin’s hit “Reggeaton” and then exploded into a parade of hits. “Con Altura” ft. Rosalía, Cardi B/Bad Bunny collaboration “I Like It,” and “Mi Gente” his collaboration with Willy William and Beyoncé from his album Daddy K - The Mix 11 kept his fans moving to the beat all night long. Beyond the hits, though, was his display of pride for his country and beloved hometown of Medellin. It’s no secret that J Balvin is admired by many for, in addition to his openness about mental health issues and his struggle with anxiety, for changing how the world perceives Colombia.
Opening for Balvin were urban artists Lyanno from Puerto Rico, and Eladio Carrion from Kansas City, Missouri.
