Holy Ghost! @ U Street Music Hall [DC] - 6/29/2019
When Holy Ghost! comes to town, there’s a 100% chance that the U Hall disco ball will light up. For good reason, too - the duo of Nick Millhiser and Alex Frankel helped to revive legendary disco label West End Records with their latest album, Work. It’s the duo’s first in six years and their first away from DFA, founded by LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy. The Murphy-like work ethic hasn’t gone away, though. Aided by a sizeable band and a king’s riches worth of analog synths, the duo of Nick Millhiser and Alex Frankel led the crowd in a disco-pop dance party with older favorites like “Hold On” and “Wait and See” while creating some new live staples with Work cuts “Anxious” and “Escape from Los Angeles.”
Opening for Holy Ghost! were NYC-based trio Nation of Language. Their latest release is the single “Reality.”
