Hand Habits @ Songbyrd - 4/12/2019
Meg Duffy has played with the likes of Kevin Morby (that's her playing guitar alongside him at live shows) and The War on Drugs (that's her on slide guitar duties during "Holding On"), but she has undoubtedly made a connection with fans through her emotionally-charged lyrics and melodies. Her Songbyrd show was just as quiet and introspective as her sophomore album placeholder. "I don't like talking loudly, it hurts my voice," Duffy proclaimed shortly after the start of her set. Instead, she let her guitar do the talking by looping multiple solos on top of one another. Watching every guitar solo possess her during her three-piece band's performance, especially on songs like "Jessica," left no doubt as to why she's such a sought-after guitarist.
placeholder is available now through Saddle Creek Records.
Opening for Hand Habits was Brooklyn-based musician Tasha, whose performance was full of quiet confidence, grace, and self-love that easily won over the crowd. Her debut album Lullaby is out now through Father/Daughter Records.
