Episode 345: Historian - Lucy Dacus
Lucy Dacus's debut album No Burden announced the Richmond, Virginia native to the world as a musical force to be reckoned with.
On her sophomore effort, Historian, Lucy and her band haven't just lived up to that expectation, they've created a modern classic.
That's it. That's the pitch. Go listen to the album NOW, then come back to hear Kevin and Eduardo gush.
PS. We're bum ping a rad track from Washington, DC's Stronger Sex after all the gushing.
Best of 2016: Paul's Take
Whatever you want to say about 2016 (and we’ve said plenty), it was a great year for music and Chunky Glasses covered the hell out of it. Well, it was a great year for musical output at least. We lost far too many of our favorite artists but, by fortune or design, we gained some truly extraordinary albums before they passed. More than that, those that remained took up the mantles of the fallen to produce a bounty of sharply observed, deeply felt works. To call it a changing of the guard would be overly simplistic; an artificial narrative created to instill some sense of order on a chaotic year. But, be that as it may, it appears that as the world lurches into an uncertain 2017, at least we’ll still have plenty of exemplary musicians to help us make sense of whatever happens next.
Episode 243: Best of 2016 - Part One

Join us in the basement one last time this year as we count down our favorites, feel out our disappointments, and more.

No Burden happens to be one of the best albums of 2016 to date.
This is what happened when we talked to Lucy and her band the day after her album came out.*
*we included a sweet track from one of Lucy's fellow Richmonders Clair Morgan too because AWESOME, that's why.
Episode 161: Lucy Dacus - No Burden
TIDAL, the streaming service that is "for artists, by artists" may be up for sale...to Samsung. Who is not a DJ you haven't heard of.
Lucy Dacus' subtly powerful debut, No Burden, is being hyped far and wide in the music press. For once the hype is real. Believe it.

Sometimes we have good ideas. Sometimes those ideas are a blaxploitation version of Little Shop of Horrors.
